Liz Prisley

About
Liz is a writer, performance poet, and educator based out of Tampa, Florida. Since 2008 she has taught many forms of writing as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, as well as at Virginia Tech, the University of Tampa, and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. She earned her MA in English from Virginia Tech and her BA in Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida.
Liz is currently the Executive Director of Heard Em Say Youth Arts Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to youth empowerment through creative arts. As a slam poet, Liz has represented Tampa at regional and national competitions, and her work can be seen on “SlamFind” and “Poetry Slam, Inc.” In addition to being a boss poet, Liz is also a passionate coffee drinker and fro-yo aficionado.

Book Liz for a performance at your next creative event. Sets can range from 15 to 60 minutes for audiences of all sizes. Recommended for ages 13+. Liz can also host open mics, slams, or other events that may include performances of her own work.
Poetry, and specifically spoken word, lends itself generously to positive identity development and exploration of the personal. Liz guides audiences through workshop journeys of inspiration and self-reflection and how storytelling can be a transformational tool.
Liz hosts trainings on best practices for teaching poetry, working with youth, and cultivating inclusive spaces. She does virtual and in-person events, and can combine services, so reach out for a quote!
